Nicole Ari Parker, an American actor who has appeared on film and television in addition to on stage is best known for her role as Teri Joseph, a flamboyant lawyer in the show the show on Showtime called Soul Food. Nikki Kodjoe is her new name following her marriage to. Her birthplace and childhood was in Baltimore Maryland. Contractor had a great academic career at the University of Toronto Toronto in addition to her training as a ballerina. She attended the Etobicoke School of the Arts - a specialized arts high school where she was able to study not only dance, but also theater. Contractor began acting at age 16 and was a part of the theater for a decade after spending ten years of dance. She was awarded a full scholarship to attend the University of Toronto after graduating. There she earned her master's degree in theater and also double-majored in sociology and psychology. Following a year at University, Contractor went to an open audition for the production Pericles at the world-class, world-renowned Stratford Shakespeare Festival [Ontario, Canada and was offered the leading role. She received rave reviews for her performances during the 92 performances that in the production. It was also voted the production of the year by Canadian reviewers in 2002. The actor was invited to join Stratford's conservatory course, in which a select eight men and four females are selected for a 20-week crash course on classical theater which she eagerly took. Contractor's place in the following play season was secured and she was chosen as Hermia.
